Abstract

This article aims to describe the Visceral Leishmaniasis epidemiological characteristics in the state of Roraima during the period comprised between January, 2006 to December 2008. Data were collected from the Central State Laboratory and the Boa Vista´s Municipal Zoonosis Control Center. We tried to show data in humans and canines and the relationship between them. Human confirmed cases showed the prevalence of children from 1 to 4 year of age. Canine infection was present in 52 animals from Uiramutã, Pacaraima and Normandia, cities that are acknowledge risk regions, mainly the indigenous areas, in which the disease vector was identified.
