Active search of triatomines in area without report of bugs for the population as a subsidy of entomological surveillance in the state of Sao Paulo. BEPA, Bol. epidemiol. paul. ABSTRACT Evaluations of the triatomines notifications for the population in areas of larger dispersion of the species Panstrongylus megistus aimed that the same ones have not been happening, or they happen in a quite sporadic way. To monitor the situation search accomplishment it was proposed it activates at places of these areas. The approach for the estimate of the sample of the places considered the encounter of the triatomines in the residences and out of the residences properties researched in the period 1990 to 1999. In the years 2008 and 2009 they were researched 110 places, adding 4466 homes with 18 positive, being 0.04% inside of residences and 4.4% out of the residences. Were collected 136 triatomines copies, 90.4% referring to the species Triatoma sordida and 9.6% Panstrongylus megistus, concentrated out of the residences (92.3%). All the examined copies went negative for Trypanosoma cruzi. The results allow affirming that the surveillance strategy is being driven in an effective way. Although the presence of triatomines focuses is verified out of the residences it doesn’t happen the installation of triatomines populations in the residences. The education works in health should be intensified seeking to maintain the motivated population the to identify the presence of those insects and to guide to the competent areas for the confirmation and control of eventual formation of new populations.
