YANO, Helena Miyoco; GUARDIA, Rita Cristina Agostinho; FARIAS, Fernanda Fernandes e SANTOS, Ana Paula. Corticoids identification by thin layer chromatography in counterfeit compounded pharmaceuticals. BEPA, Bol. epidemiol. paul. (Online) [online]. 2011, vol.8, n.95, pp. 04-13. ISSN 1806-4272.
“Natural” compounded pharmaceuticals used as pain relievers have been freely commercialized in our country. However, the quality standards of these “naturals” compounded pharmaceuticals are not always satisfactory in accordance with existing laws, so errors like miscompounding as well as addition of unreported substances on the label are common in the samples directed to the Medicaments Centre of the Adolfo Lutz Institute. This work describes a data collection on the analysis of glucocorticoids and Piroxican in “natural” compounded pharmaceuticals used as pains relievers in column pains, arthritis and tendinitis cases. The presence of corticoids and piroxicam were detected in seven out of twenty five samples analyzed, which indicates an alert situation concerned to the risk of compounded pharmaceuticals for pain treatment.
