This paper reports the experience of a special team of the Family Health S trategy in the central region of São Paulo, from July 2008 t o April 2013, whose performance was next to a man on the street for 22 years, the area covered by the Basic Health Unit (BHU). This repo rt aims to show the strategies that health s taff used to dealing with violence changes evidenced by the prejudices experienced daily by people on the streets, in order to allow access to Basic Health U nit, as well as overcoming barriers those found in social and health services themselves. This article proposes that the host people on the street is different and priority health ser vices, encouraging autonomy and citizenship, linked to any social network and health in the territory.
